What is Tongue tie and Lip tie?

Tongue tie is a tight attachment of the underside of the tongue to the floor of the mouth resulting in limited tongue mobility.  Lip tie is a tight attachment of the upper lip to the upper gum tissue which interferes with the lips ability to adequately flange upward during an infants latch. Infants can be born with a combination of these conditions which can impact breastfeeding.
