Some mothers experience pain deep within their breasts.

    • This can sometimes be associated with a painful let-down reflex. This can occasionally happen while moms body adjusts to feeding her baby. Using relaxation techniques that were helpful during labour might help to cope with this early discomfort. This discomfort using disappears over time
    • Some women experience this deep breast pain during a thrush/candida infection.
    •  Pain in breasts can be a result of engorgement, mastitis or plugged ducts, or previous breast surgery or traumas.
    • A breast abscess is very unusual but can occur if mastitis goes untreated.  It is a very painful, localized infection causing pus and must be treated immediately.
